There are Always Sides to a Story

Imagine there are four people standing surrounding the Merlion statue near the Marina Bay, Singapore. One on the right side (is Atlas), one on the left side(is Blake), one on the back (is Chris) and one, sadly on the water because he has to be in front of the Merlion and yes, he got splashed by the water coming out the Merlion (is Dunne).

Then you ask them a report about, "What do you see?"
They are all looking at the exactly same Merlion, but are you sure they're going to report the same thing?

Atlas which stands on the right side will came out with report:
"I saw a Merlion statue, the water is splashing to my right side and there's a lot of people taking photo near the bay. I also saw the Esplanade Theater, Mandarin Hotel and The Float"

Chris which stands on the left side will came out with report:
"I saw a Merlion statue, the water is splashing to my left side and there are a lot of people eating at the food court there and sitting while having a good time. I also saw One Fullerton, Singapore Business District, the counter for Singapore River Cruise and a Starbucks a little further down the road"

Blake which stands on the back side will came out with report:
"I saw a Merlion statue, the water is splashing to the front side and there's a river before the Marina Bay Sand. I also saw the Hotel, the Helix Bridge, The Singapore Flyer and the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands"

Can you guess what Dunne which stands (or rather float in the water) report will be?
"I f*cking saw a Merlion statue, the water is f*cking splashing right at me. It's f*cking cold in here and I'm tired of trying to float my self in the water and I have to keep on moving. All I can see is water everywhere. This is sh*t! Why do I get to be the one who stays in the f*cking water. This is f*cking b*llsh*t."

Does anybody got my point already?
They all saw the same statue, but even to where the direction of the water is splashing, they tell a different story, a completely and totally opposite and plus with anger from Dunne. 

This is life, we sometimes see a problem from one angle only and we don't even try to try another angle or another point of view. If we back on the case, How if there's more than just 4 views? maybe there's another Eric who stands at the Esplanade Park? or how if we put Frost on the top of Marina Bay Sands? there are always hundreds points of view. Sometimes we dare to speak out loud and scream out point of view without having seen all the point of view.

Now if there are only four point of view and we decided to explore another point of view, you may be having a better understanding of the issue. First you take the Atlas' place and now you understand why he reports what his report says, you take Chris' position and you're starting to get a grip on the difference, you take Blake's place and now you get the most of it. But then you saw Dunne's place. Then you're in doubt because you can't swim and you can't be in the water. So you start to make conclusion based on those three point of views. I would say, how dare you!!!

There are a very critical point of view rather than Atlas, Blake and Chris. Those three people are standing in a higher ground and having a good view of everything. But people sometimes forget the point of view from Dunne, the Point of view of the VICTIM. The one who suffer the most. You have to realize, yeah they also have a point of view and I can't say they have the most Righteous point of view, but by God they do have a point of view.

Based on the report, only Dunne's report looks angry. Why? because he's in the water, tired and he has the crap that the other three doesn't feel and let say, they all got the same amount of paycheck. We sometimes forget this critical point of view and sometimes we don't even want to explore another point of view. We are stuck in our own opinion and state it to the world as if we are the most righteous one.

All four of the subjects are speaking the truth and they are all true but with one catch. They are all only true on their own point of view. Chris will always against Atlas opinion because they have the exact opposite. Blake will never understand why Dunne is so angry because they look things on a different heights.

People will split into four or thousands different of groups for that matter.
Can't we just agree to disagree?

The most important point for us, the other people, the viewer who only know a story from one r two or three sides, where there are tens of another sides, always remember to stay neutral and don't join a cause just because one point of view then you create something that you will regret your whole life or even create a mass-damage that will need a very long time to heal.

People are having their own opinion and they are entitled to it because they have their own experience. We,who don't have knowledge to it, have a CHOICE... whether we want to stay neutral or we want to act irrationally before we know all the facts. 

For you Indonesian Doctors, please understand the point of view of the patient who charge very expensive on the medical bill, for all the tears they've shed, for all the hardship they endure to get money for medication, for all the expensive medicine they pay where they can pay cheaper for the same result but they don't know, and for 
everything.

For you Indonesian Patients, please understand all the hardship that those doctors went through, all the money they spent on the education all the time they spent on studying to make people healthier, all the tears they've shed during the exam and the training as young doctors, all the time they spent staying up late worrying about your condition, All the efforts they gave when they give you surgery, and for everything.

We all have faith in life. If we don't know a single clue about what we're talking about, talk from a neutral position and don't judge. Don't get easily angry or condemned when we don't actually know the true reason behind it. 

STAY NEUTRAL AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD.
I just hope the world can be a better and peaceful place to live.
Let the people who had the quarrel finish it before the law, and for the rest of us, lets just watching it silently. Don't fall into someone's agenda setting that easy.

Why Statistics.... Why.....!!!!

Let say I'm going to have a party next Saturday at my house and you are all invited. But then you're all going to ask me, "Where's my address?" To be better in describing it, I'm going to draw a map for you, and I'll ask this to you, "How much do you want me to draw my map as close as to the reality?"

"100%" one of you might scream.
Then I start to draw my 100% close to reality map with 1:1 scale. Now, can you imagine how big it's gonna be and how big is my paper will be?

"90% is enough" some of you might say.
Okay, I wont draw at 1:1 scale, but then I draw the map to the very last detail up until the rocks, the plants and the trees. 

"80% is enough" you might say.
Well, I might still have to draw every names of the buildings and every turns that you have to make.

So on and so forth, and In the end I just draw some roads and some landmark you can use as a guidance to find my house. The result of the map would be so simple and focus in pointing my house and how to get there. In the process, I will (kind of) ignoring the fact that is exist in the reality and ignore it so it won't distract you to reach the goal, which is to find my house.

Well, isn't that how statistic works?? or all mathematical model works for that matter. We try to draw a simpler form of a complicated matters in order to find our goal and in the process, we hold other variables constant.

If I think that way, then I would know that statistic is actually meant good. But and it really is a very big BUT, Sometimes statistic is just simply like crap... Sorry for you guys who love statistic to death. Why? because statistic is no more than just a tool to help you count and not with the decision. 

I give you a sample,
if there's a data of the level of happiness of 20 people correlated to their income.
Darn it, I can't make a table here? so let's make it like this. pretend there's a table, with a heading : Subject | Happiness Level | Income
A | 100 | 1               K | 100 | 1
B | 200 | 2               L | 200 | 2
C | 300 | 3               M | 300 | 3
D | 400 | 4               N | 400 | 4

As you can see with naked eyes, I mean without using any application, there's a connection between income and happiness and it is a very good and strong correlation. Every time income increase by 100 points, happiness level increase by 1 point.

Now, you can change subject T's level of happiness from 5 to 1. You can re-regress the data, the R squared will decrease from almost 1 into only around 50% something. Just because one anomaly where subject T has income of 500 but yet still uhnappy.

So, in the statistics, there are only one data that shows anomaly from the other data which means only 5%, the R squared value can decrease up to 50%. Well maybe because that one anomaly is very extreme. But this is to show you that Statistics not always picturing the truth model. For subject A until S there are a very strong relation, but because of subject T, it decreases and the statistics just made up a formula consist of Constanta of each variables.

Well, once again I am innocently stupid and a little bit selfish, so this is just a personal opinion of someone who never like to use the Quantitative Method. Nevertheless, it's true that statistics help you to serve a concrete evidence of a relation, but then again... to fully hold on to that, I think it's not quite right. It's just numbers. What we measure and interpret as a human being is far more precious than just the result of a statistics number.

The thing that I hate the most is that when you didn't actually see a connection then you push a connection to exist by creating so many arguments into it. That's what happen with my final assignment. Aaargh.... The data is like so random, and I can't seem to find a good correlation among the variables, but I feel like I have to force a correlation there.

There are so many other variables connected to happiness other than just income. let's say is that person married or not, how's the education, how's the family condition, how's the children, how's the environment and so on and so forth.
Back to the sample of how much or a reality that I want to portrait. If I want a 100%, I should incorporate all the variables. but then again, how long my formula will be. So then I should decide which variable that needs to be controlled in order to crate a good model to picture the reality as close as possible. The problem is, not that easy to choose from that various variables, I don't know which one should I control.

This modules really should be taught in one whole semester rather than just in 4 weeks.
Oh Statistics.... That is another science that's not align with my way of thinking... just like economics. Aaah, thinking about my economics exam makes me sad again...
I think i should really prepare to re-take this modules next semester...

The Issue of Trust and Openness

I sometimes don't understand how in the world my mind works. There's an exam for tomorrow for the Economic Modules, which I hate most and now just less than 12 hours, all I can think of is writing a blog. Accompanying with mixed berries fragrant that I just bought for only S$1.95, so soothing and sweet.

So, it actually quite late and maybe a little too old as a news, but I just got an inspiration from this morning conversation about trust and the issue of Indonesia and Australia's relationship. Even though I'm an Indonesian, doesn't mean that I am 100% at Indonesia's side on this. Sometimes I wonder when I should say that I'm on Indonesia's side or I'm one Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's side. 

Maybe it is because of my lack of knowledge and my plainness way of thinking, but I wonder, is this a national issue or personal issue?
I don't know who taps who and on what purpose, but basically I have a way of thinking, "If you are an honest person, living in a world without any mean to hurting someone else or corrupting, why do you need to keep a secret?"

Secret is for bad people. Well, even though Vermouth (from Detective Conan manga) once said that, "Secret makes a woman, woman..." Well, she is a bad person (or at least involve in a bad organization).

Now, if I receive nothing but salary on my bank account, why do I'm afraid if some day at any day or time, some people come barge in and check my bank account? I would have no secret, I don't even need to ask, "Where's your court order?" or something like that. Well, go ahead and by all means check. 

Or for this issue, if someone wants to tap my phone, well by all means, please do.
The problem is maybe I'm not that significant of a person to tap. But this is a word that I'm planning to keep, "If one day I reach the top and I'm a significant person, I will try not to have a secret so I can keep myself like an open book."

If you want to know about me, well other than read this blog, the simplest thing is to ask me directly with a straight question. I won't lie, because lie is just for bad people. Why do you lie? because you're hiding a secret... So, a secret just makes you lie. Why bother having a secret.

Well, I'm not a woman anyway, so a secret will only make me a woman, hahaha....

I read this and think about this once again, a word, "SELFISH" comes into my mind. Well, I do hate the word, but sometimes I do think I'm selfish on this matter. A secret sometimes rises in purpose of protecting someone's feeling from hurt or pain, and back to the story of Hard Truth or Sugar Coated Truth. 

I always feels like, "This is me, deal with it!"
I don't like to keep a secret, so sometimes some people do hurt by knowing a fact about me that they actually regret to know. Well, this is life, deal with it. OMG, I sound so mean....

But yeah, if you want to, you can tap my email, my facebook, even my bank account, but please don't misuse it. The actual problem is not how am I going to handle you knowing my secret, but it's more like, how you're going to deal with the truth about me. See, it's actually not my problem, it's yours.... hahaha, I am selfish, DARN it...!!!

Yeah, for everything that matter, I won't endangered a good long-nurtured relationship just because I offended that you tap my phone. There's no secret there, just the truth. I'm not going to be offended.

Why in the world a country needs to have a secret?
Is that a mandatory thing?
That one country has to have a plan to invade another country?

What are you afraid to be revealed if there's nothing to reveal anyway?
I hope these question won't show up in tomorrow's exam.

Maybe because I never been there, so I don't know what really is happen when two nations create a collaboration in economic or other sector. Is it really your right hand is shaking hands and your left hand holds a knife? Is it really like that? 
Man, that is so fake...

Now it's settled that I'm Selfish and Innocently Stupid....!!!

The truth can also remove all the doubts and speculations. There actually a method in media world of how to handle the media during a crisis. Rather than spill only a little information and make the media research for the rest or speculate over the small details, it's better for you to spill all the beans and make all the facts to be known and let the truth to be out in the open. With that, no speculations and doubt will exist and people will eventually stop chasing you to milk out the truth.

It is also will be a boring world... hahahaha....
There's no rush in chasing a secret.
But, in my opinion, no matter how open I am to the world, well, God creates human beings differently one to another, so somebody will still keep secrets to satisfy all the secrets hunters out there. Just not mine...

Shoot!!! I'm 29....

I woke up at November 4, 2013 and suddenly it hits me, shoot!!! I'm 29.
Yeah, some people just said that it's just number, but I think it's something more than that. Age-wise, the number is increasing, means that I already lived in this world for 29 years. But time-wise, my living quota on this earth is decreasing by one more year. Yeah, no one know for certain of when we will die, but there's nothing wrong to always "just in case", even though my management background keep telling me to always "Just in time".

I don't actually know why do I don't like birthday so much. Maybe it's because that one faithful year when I receive one suicide attempt as my birthday gift. Well, the darkest year everrrrrr..... and up until now, at some point I sometimes loose the confidence in me and think that "What makes me so special?"

Year is just a matter of number and I always have this jargon of "Live life to its fullest" and I think to myself, "Why I can't even enjoy myself of this faithful day of the year?"

To think back again on a motivational story, our birthday is actually a day when we should be celebrating the day of our Glorious Win. Our conceiving process itself is already a winning story where we defeat other sperms in the race to reach the one ovum. Finally when we finally success to be born in this life, is another winning story on its own. So birthday is celebrating that day.

Is that so?
Yeah, maybe I don't feel that special... I might be just a lucky sperm to ever reach the ovum because of the other sperms are lost. hahahaha....

Well, to think that once again...
The day of my birthday is November 4, and I was staying in my mother's womb for about 9 months and 9 days. So the day I was conceived was around January 25. Based on Islam believed about soul, that God put soul in me after 40 days since the Sperm meet the Ovum. So based on that random calculation, my original birthday should be on March 7 not November 4. Because that's the real first time I was sent to this world. hahaha....
Maybe based on that random calculation, someone should made an apps on that.

I sometimes feel that I have an old soul inside me and now I hate that the age is actually catching up. No I'm old inside and out. Well, 29 is not that old, but still I feel like now I should have been like more mature or something and I don't feel like it. Maybe I really do wish that my age is stopped at 25 and I'll be 25 for the rest of my life until I die... hahaha...

Nothing is actually change even though my age is one more year added. I'm still me, as awkward as possible me. Because I always believed that "There's no point in growing up if you can't be childish once in a while..."

But by being 29, there's a responsibility for a person with this age, especially coming from Indonesian culture. The pressure of getting married will be more and more crazy. Well, not that I'm surprised since this pressure has been on me since I step on my 25 years of living on earth. 

Now that I think of it, why do I make it so gloomy about my birthday. Maybe it also the first time after several time celebrating it with my special someone. Damn it, I really should've getting use to this. Life is changing all the time. Well it might be catching up to me too fast and I'm not ready. 

As a tradition, I always removed my birthday from my facebook on the 1st of November. I'm (not) sorry, but I don't want my Facebook wall is crowded by thousands, eh no... hundreds, not really, tens (quite right) of my not-so-close Facebook contact. So I always removed it near the day. I just want the one who write on my wall is someone who really remember my birthday, which will really means a lot to me because they actually remember it or the one who care to check on my Facebook wall.

And also I'm not too keen on too much festivity, hahaha....
I don't want that some people conspire behind my back and then throw me some flour and egg, OMG, that is so high-school. But I don't know it's a sad story or a good one, but I never had that experience. Either my circle of friends are too serious or they're just don't feel that close to me to do that. hahahaha....

Meh... birthday....
There are 250 millions people in Indonesia, if it divide by the number of days in a year 365, it will resulted the number around 684,931 something. So it means, by average it should be 684 thousands people having the same birthday. But I only found maybe only 3 people that share the date and month of my birthday. I always thought that November 4 is an exclusive date... hahaha... or I'm just simply not having much friends...

For that, to my (not so much in number) friends that has been congratulate me on my birthday either because you really are remember it or because of you really are trying to find it out, all I can say is THANK YOU... and shhhh, keep it a secret... 
For my housemates + 1, the Ice Cream cake is like super nice!!! Thanks.

Law is a Collective Agreement in Regards of Corruption

Smoking is forbidden in several places, but then again if there's a community of smoker smoking in the same place that actually is forbidden, are they breaking the law?
Crossing the street is ought to do at the zebra cross or pedestrian overhead bridge, but if everyone is crossing at any place on the street, are they breaking the law?
Eating inside the MRT is forbidden and could be fined by the law, but if other people doesn't care about that and take no action, are those an act of law breaking?

Yeah of course they are!
but the question remain is that, "Who's going to catch them?"
Ash from the Pokemon series with the tagline, "Gotta catch them all"...?

More often in my experience, at the corner there are some police who do the same act of law breaking. So what is law and how it could happen. It might sound so scientific but no, I'm not a bachelor of law and I'm no lawyer either. But this is just a perspective of a man who's dreaming that someday in the future he can be a President. Hahahaha....

I think Law is a collective agreement that made by several people. In some places it was made by the Legislative part of the government. They were the one that should be the representative of the voice of all the people of a nation. But then again, are they really? it just like Statistic, they are just a sample of a nation. Now are those sample really is representing the whole population? the question remain a mystery.

Law is a consensus, so if a group of people do the same act of law breaking, they are collectively breaking a law. If they can do that secretively, then there's a very big chance that they can avoid being punished. There are officer of the law, but they are no God and they don't have an all around eye that can actually watch every move we made.

This is why corruption can grow so fast and hard to control. If a person is corrupting, then another person can report him/her to the officer of the law. The problems nowadays are that this corruption act is done by a group of people. So who will know now? Can we actually count on the Police on this issue? I don't think so.

In the old days, a person is doing an act of corruption and he does that individually without sharing it to his superior or peer. Then his superior or peer know about it, the only reasonable act for them is to report that person. Now it all has evolved. When you do an act of corruption, you have to involved your superior and peer, so they know and have a shared investment on the act of corruption and they will be simply silenced.

That is why the act of corruption is hard to cope with. This action is involving to many people and they are all in consensus to break the law. Doesn't matter the reason behind the act, but an act of law breaking is a breaking of the law itself and has to be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of applicable laws.

How to break this?
It actually simple but so hard. You just need to break the consensus among the group. You don't need all of them to confess, you just need one. Just one honest people that can resist a temptation of bribe money. That's simple right? But the problem now is, to find that one person.

That person actually doesn't have to be an honest person, they can also come from the heart-ache person from the group that got an unfair share. They can also break down and report the act of corruption. Which this kind of source is harder to find.

I'm not saying that finding an honest person is easier, but an act of corruption can form a group basically because of an consensus and every person already know his/her share on the result of the corruption act. So this heart-ache person is sometimes comes out of luck and surely we can't depend on that.

Now, let me tell you a story.
There's a civil servant, working with monthly salary let say around S$2,000 where his friend with the same degree of education but working in a private area can earn triple. At one faithful day, a person offer him a bribe in amount of S$100,000 in order to make his path easier in taking care of some matters.
This honest man is ready to report the man, but suddenly he got a call from his wife, telling that his son just got hit by a car when he's playing around and she's gonna need money for the hospital treatment.
This man is thinking hard, living in Singapore with only S$2,000 a month is hard enough. Now he can get 50 months of salary in one simple moment and his son right now needs a big amount of money where he's barely has any saving account left in the bank.

Now, based on this dilemma of the story, what would you think that honest man will do?
Well, it's not that I take the side of a corruptor, but for every action there must be a cause behind it. To cope with the result of an action, we must first understand the cause.
Sometimes, the system that creates an honest man into a corrupt man. Salary level can be a factor of people doing corruption. But then again, when civil servant got a raise, a nation complaint because it's their tax that paid the salary of the civil servants. Where in the private area, the salary can be double even triple.

The constraint of rising the salary is always the Budget of the Nation. Money can't buy us happiness but I'm sure it can buy everything else including the honesty of a man.

Now back to the topic of Only Need One Person To Break a Group of Corrupt People, How to simply do this? The first step is actually will seems unfair, That is Increase the salary of the top management first. If the boss is adequate in terms of salary and he's not a greed person, he can be the pillar of anti-corruption in a department.

At first, it might cause some kind of jealousy and a big salary gap. But in the future once the corruption has been able to tackled, we can start to gradually rise the salary from top to bottom.

Maybe I do live in my ideal world and still thinking that it actually need only one honest person to tackle even the biggest corruption case. This is actually the act that can be done by yourself. So for those outside whom ever think, "I'm just a person in this big and corrupt world, what can I do?"

Now you've found your answer...

Hard Truth or Sugar Coated Lie

Once upon a time there's a kid, let's call him Joe. Joe was ordered by his mother to keep eye on a family cat. One day, the cat was playing in the backyard and it jump over the fence and a truck hits it hard until it's death. Then the mother coming back from his trip and trying to find the cat all around the house but she can't find it. Then he ask Joe about this, "Joe, where's the Cat?"

"It's dead because it was hit by a truck" Joe said.

The mother was crying because the Cat was lived with her since a long time. The father then approach Joe and said, "Joe, next time you have a bad new, don't tell it directly like that. You make your mother cry. Tell the story first, for example, tell your mother that the Cat was playing in the roof, having fun and then suddenly there's a strong wind and the cat was slipped and fall over the fences then a truck hits it..."

"Oh, okay Father" Joe said.

Few weeks later, the Mother and the Father has to make a trip outside of town. The Grandmother was asked to take care of Joe at home. A few days later, the Mother call Joe just to check on his condition.

"Joe, how are you?" said the Mother.
"I'm fine Mother..." Joe said.
"How about your Grandma?" said the Mother.
Joe suddenly remember what his Father said before, "Umm... Mother, about that.... Grandma was playing in the roof, having fun...."

Wow, it is a very long introduction, no wonder my Lecturer write that as one of the reason he gave me a B minus for my Essay... T.T
But I do still think that introduction hold a very important part to entice the reader to read further of my writings.

So, anyone get the meaning of the story??
Well, it should've been a funny story, just a joke...

In life there's always something that called TRUTH and I don't know why it always associated with HURT, PAIN, BITTER, DISCOMFORT and some other negative words. Then again, when I think about it, Sometimes truth does give you an uneasiness feeling. So some people tend to coating it with some sugar to make it sweeter.

What good does it do? 
Does it really make it sweeter?
It's still the truth and still hurts in the end. So why don't we just cut the crap and get to the main point, THE TRUTH itself. And then they call it the HARD TRUTH. 

The problem with covering the truth with sweet and nice things are that the sweet cover is sometimes (or more often, and maybe always) a lie. Yeah, you may call it white lies or anything but it still lies. See, some people even make a sweet cover for LIE.

TRUTH leads you to TRUST, LIE will lead you to DISTRUST and sometimes betrayal. It's fully in your hand, whether you want to live the rest of your life on the base of TRUTH or LIE. Wise people once said about the down effect of lies is that, "When you once said lies and don't come clean about it you will tend to cover that lie with another lies and suddenly you'll realize that all your life was all a lie..."

Wow, that's heavy...!

But then another issue about TRUTH is that, sometimes some people are not ready to hear it. So some people might actually prefer the sweet cover version rather than the hard TRUTH itself.

Let say it like this, you have a friend with a stink body odor. How are you going to break the TRUTH to him?
or You see someone you don't know walk out of a toilet and forget to zip-up his zipper. Will you tell him about that?
or perhaps, When you speak with your friend and you realize that he has a bad breath. Are you going to tell him about it?

TRUTH sometimes will make you discomfort and feel uneasy. But so many times, we prefer to stay silent and let the bad odor, bad breath or unzipped pants just passing by in the name of friendship and take them as who they are.

For me personally, that's not your true friends. I want someone who can tell the truth of how I am, rather than cover it with sweet things. Do you know that sometimes people just simply don't realize their flaw because he himself doesn't realize it and he actually need other people to say that for him and tell him about that so he knows and do something about that.

Let say, if you sense that my body odor is stink and you do nothing about it because you don't want to hurt my heart. Then I walk on by without realizing it, and then I met other people too without realizing my body odor. People will feel discomfort to be around me and I would be embarrassed further. 

Can you see the back of your back?
Yes, with mirror.
That's what a True Friend should do, be a very good mirror to his/her friends. 

"TRUTH is like a pill..." they said. So as long as those pills were directed to the right illness, no matter how bitter it is, people will still take it because they know that they need it no matter what. So does the TRUTH, if we can deliver the TRUTH that will be able to build our friends into a better person, then they also might realize that they actually would prefer the TRUTH rather than sugar coated one.

The best way to convey the truth is not by sugar coating it, but by telling it softly and carefully with full attention toward the person we're telling the truth to. Convey it with full consideration and sincerely, so our truth might not seem as a mock, but instead a real critics to make our friends become a better person than he is today.

You are special, just not that special....!!!
That's a fact and that's the truth. Live with it and always strive to be better.

Youtube Learner

I'm not a reader type person, because I find it so very hard for me to sit and read the whole page with only letters inside and not to mention that it usually in small font and less space. Please can someone poke me in the eye, because I'm about to fall asleep in 3...2...1.... zzzzzzz......

but wait a minute....
Aren't my blog is all in writing??
yeah... I hate to read but I make you all read my blog... hahaha...

But if I have to return to my theory about, "If you hate tomatoes, doesn't mean that everyone else hate it too..."

So I just hope that the world wasn't filled by the likes of me. I hope you find that reading is a fun activities and my blog is one of the thing that you love to read. #wink

Now, so how do I survive this whole time in my life without reading that much?
I turn all my energy to my ears and be a good listener. 
Just like a wise man once said, "You have two ears and one mouth, means that you have to listen twice than you speak..."

It's not that I don't want to read and I'm not trying to read, but every time I read, I found it hard to take grasp on the content that I read. I have to read it maybe three or four times just to get a better understanding on the subject. How can I read it again and again when I can simply fell asleep on my first attempt. So rather than read, I prefer hear.

So in order too keep on learning new things, I turn my attention to Youtube. Every time I found a hardship in terms of my learning, I will try to search the topic on Youtube. Sometimes, the explanation from the Youtube and from the lecturer is in a different speed, accent and ways of telling. So it always a good thing to get some kind of second opinion or second point of view on things. 

I'm able to do Salchow Jump, Tooe Loop Jump and Lutz Jump on the Ice Rink, all thanks to Youtube. Not only that, I learn a lot of things from Youtube, I just learn how to play Violin using Youtube. Youtube is a good thing to use when you're too lazy to read. You can find almost anything on Youtube. 

Everything was so ideal, up until I stumble upon the world of VLog or, Video Blog.  
And suddenly I was stunned by the amazing-ness of a VLog world and how those people can make a funny story even to a very scientific issue. Then I also found the Anime series such as Sailor Moon and Shurato. So I was just stunned over my laptop screen and suddenly I remembered. Why I open Youtube on the first place???

Yeah, and it's already midnight and I'm sleepy, so I just skipped the study part and go to sleep. The next day, it's all the same story all over again. And then I think to my self... Aaaargh, why am I so easily distracted???

I hate to read, but then when I try to learn via Youtube, I'm so easily distracted. Though it actually pop an idea into my mind whether I should make a VLog of my own. Yeah, that idea was stuck in my head for a several time now, but I still can't make that into reality. Laziness and lack of idea still my biggest hindrance. Even writing could be so hard, now I have to make a script then read it??

But maybe some time or some other time I'll do that. But then again, My Blog only has let say around 30 readers for each blog (well sometimes only 10) so how if I publish a VLog and only have 10-30 viewer.... Oh God, that must be so very pathetic (Simon Cowell sez), hahaha...

So let's just keep that idea in my mind until I'm ready to do that. Now,let's just stick to this blog and I will keep on trying to be a better reader rather than just a better hearer. So I can read a journal and really catch the meaning behind that. Or.... maybe I can just focus to use Youtube for learning... Naaaah, it'll be too hard, the video now is even weirder and funnier, I can't resist that.

Youtube really is a good source to study, but also full of trick and traps. Beware o' mortal being, for you can easily swayed by the temptation of Parody of Music Video.... hahaha...

Walking Alone and Walking Together

Last night I walked from Orchard area to College Green in Dunearn Road, darn it I left my iPod. Nevertheless, I learn something that night. 

I always thought that life is better off alone, why? because you'll never know what other people want. That's why I still wish for a mind-reading power. So in regards of that, having friends sometimes will make you spend more. Let say, from place A to place B is actually in a walking distance, but then your friend is not a 'walker' type person. So you have to ride a bus or even a taxi for that distance. 

Sometimes I do wonder, I hate economics and I'm not an economist, but why in the world I think so 'economistically', wait a minute, is that even an English word? I sometimes think that the way I'm thinking is too economic. There's always a correlation and combination of cost and benefit. 

But last night, I just realized what's missing in that formula. That is the price of "COMPANIONSHIP". As an Introvert, I do sometimes found extra energy in loneliness rather than in crowdy-ness (yeah, I keep on making new words). 

I walked before through the same road with a friend (should I mention your name Rin?), but last night when I walked alone, it really is feel that the distance is farther than before. But I can swear to God that the distance that I went through is the same.

This is where the element of COMPANIONSHIP kicks in. There's the role of "other people" in your life, as a companion for you. As much as you claim yourself as an introvert, there are some points when you're caught off-guard. Left your smartphone, left your iPod, left your laptop, and finally there's no more "friends" in your life to accompany you. 

Time that we've been through could be the same, 24 hours. But the quality of that 24 hours will be so vastly different depends on who you're spending it with. 2 hours can last very long if you spend it with someone you don't like. But 2 hours with a friend with good companionship could feel like only 5 minutes, and suddenly time flies and you want some more.

Having someone in your life does add cost to your economic calculation. It could be in form of friends, spouse or even relatives. An introverted person or a loner is actually not a person who don't want to create a relationship with other people, they just haven't found the right person yet. Sometimes the biggest problem of an introverted person is that we're too afraid to try. 

Life really is about taking risk, but sometimes risk are there to calculate and the weight of 'comfort-ness in current condition' is way to big than the risk that I should take. It really is just like the theory of how I don't like Batik. I really should never say never. The problem is not about the un-willing-ness to try, but to find a motive that suits me is not easy. I still believe that some motive in Batik shirt can make you look older. 

My biggest jargon is always, "Live life to its fullest" but I do sometimes think that I hold back a lot because I'm not willing to take risks. Afraid of heart-ache, afraid of betrayal, afraid of back-stabbers, so many fear in life. Why... why can't I read minds???

The way I put everything into a logical sense is that, "I always do everything for my self" or in that matter, "I live for me". Some people do say that it's just a justification about everything I do, but I guess that's so true. That is the way I survive from all the fear I have in life so I don't feel pain when someone hurt me so bad. I never do things for someone else, everything I do is for my own purpose and goal. Even though it may seem like I did it for someone else, but believe me, I always have the reason for my self and the for other people may come as the second reason.

Wow, now I've read it all over again... I seems like a super-self-centered person. hahahaha.... it might as well the world is rotating around me and I'm the SUN.

But then again, life is a battlefield and if it's my means to survive the battle, then, so it be. Hahaha...

Human is sometimes said to be a homo homini lupus when we try to describe of how a man is actually capable of. I do believe that, but deep inside, a man not only capable of destroying another human being but they are also as capable to love and caring for another person. So It's not that I want to be alone in this life, but just like Justin Bieber said, "Never say never"

The main issue is to find the right person who can give you the right companionship in this life. We just have to keep on trying to do so till our time in this earth finally over and we'll end to the eternity silence. That will be the time when we really have to sleep alone on our own until the resurrection day.

Until that day come, let me fix this cost and benefit analysis that we all may have, especially you, Introverted fellows!! 
There are cost to have friends and it's not always about money. It could also be in form of effort, tears, hard work, sadness and all the nine yards. But if you can pass that cost you have to made, you'll finally be able to see the benefit of having friends in your life, COMPANIONSHIP and believe me, it's the kind of benefit you cannot buy cheaply. 

The biggest cost you only have to make is to give up your shell of defense and open your vulnerability to accept others in your life. You might hurt a bit (or more), but eventually you'll find the right person that you find worthy of all the cost you've spent. 

Never say never in your life, you just haven't find the right one yet. Just keep on trying, and you'll know the difference in walking alone and walking together with a good friend.

The Evolution of Toilet Flusher

Wow, it really has been a while since the last time I wrote a blog here. Several times I tried to wrote but then I stopped in the middle because I loose  focus. Well I hope I can finish this one so I can have a good kick-start. Rather than talking about something so serious like Relation ship (which is what I'm about to write next), let's talk about Toilet Flush.

Yeah, what's up with Toilet Flush and why do I want to talk about it...?

Several years ago, I think in my Marketing Management Modules at my University, there's a thing about product evolution where the product is actually at it's peak point, but we still adding things to it that actually doesn't have value added point. Like the example a mouse trap. It used to be just some set of wire and a place for the bait. How if there's a mouse trap with motion sensor and will catch a mouse that moves. Isn't that amazing? but the basic function is still to trap a mouse, is it really worth it to evolve such a product that far and finally make the price is so expensive?

Well, let's back to the topic of Toilet Flusher. In the early time, people use water scooper  to scoop water from the water basin when they want to flush the toilet. The technology was improving and the use a Toilet Flusher for every toilet now. So you don't have to scoop the water again just to flush your sh*t. 

Now, have you ever seen the evolution of the toilet flusher nowadays?
We used to have one thing like a token thing to flush on the side of the water tank. Now we have a two button, one half and one for full flusher, or have you ever seen one that looks like it has eyes that blinking? one with sensor light that detects movement and know when to flush if the person forget to flush the toilet when they leave. Or the one I saw a few days ago, it's Touch Toilet Flusher. So you just have to touch some kind of sensor and the toilet will flush it self.

Now, isn't that amazing?
Is this in the category of something like the example I mentioned before, a pseudo-evolution?
Maybe I would say, "Not yet"
Well, who knows that in the years to come there will be a Voice-Command Flusher?

But the problem nowadays is that, people can think that far for the toilet flusher, but I never.... everrr.... everrrr.... found a toilet flusher that I can easily push to flush my sh*t out when I sit to expel my sh*t from my body.

Imagine this like you're the one who experience it.
You were feeling heartburn and there's something funny inside your tummy and you feel like you have to shoot something out from your anus (pardon my french) and then you finally found a toilet and you finally sit and by God you finally feel so much relieved because those sh*t finally out. Then something start to smell and you have to flush those sh*t out. But to do so, you have to turn your body about 120 degrees to find the Flush Button behind you, and you might need the power of two hands to push the button. 

Aaaargh, isn't that stress full???
For God sake, the toilet has a sensor on it and to flush it manually still have to turn my body in that super awkward position just to flush my sh*t out.

Considering how far the Flusher has evolve from just a water-scooper to a sensory things like today, no one.... I mean NO ONE has ever think to make the Flusher-Button to be on the right or left side the toilet so it is easier to reach and push. Why should it always have to be on the back???

I feel so emotional when I saw those Touch-Flusher but the position is still on the back when you're in seated position. So you still have to turn your body around. This Toilet Flusher evolution may not be completed yet. But please, to whom it may concern (especially the toilet manufacturer), think this through. 

I always think that the Toilet Flusher has to be activated by some pushing movements in order to make the water flow, but Now the can do that just by touching or sensing the movements. So I really am wonder, why can't they make the Toilet Flusher in easier accessible position???

Now that I think about it, could it be that I've been oh, we've been wrong all this time? May be we're wrong in our seat position all along. It could be that we should've seat facing the button so it'll easier to push or touch the Toilet Flusher. 
Could this be my EUREKA MOMENT...??? a-ha....!!!!

Yeah.... I'm just talking non-sense. hahahaha....
Let's just blame the toilet manufacturer...!!!

Every time we create a product, we should use the point of view from the user of the product. So I really am wondering why does in this Evolution of the Toilet Flusher, no one ever create a user-friendly toilet. Does it really true? No one ever think about this issue?

Or is it a possibility that the creator of the Toilet Technology actually never use a toilet him/herself? so they never feel the pain to turn your body, try to push it with your right hand but it's hard so you have to push your right hand with your left hand to make it flush.

Well it's just a theory, it could be a possibility that the technology of our time still unable to reach that solution. hahaha... 
So now, let's just twist our body to the back and reach the button to flush. Don't be lazy and let your sh*t evaporating it's fragrance, Summer Sh*t Number 6. Or even worse, leave your toilet without flushing it and leave a souvenir for the next user of the toilet. Oh, darn you Lazy-Flusher!!!!!!

That's why sometimes I really do prefer to use my own toilet, but that kind of utopia sometimes so far to reach, literally. When you're going out and suddenly you feel the urge, there's no other choice than you have to use the public toilet. 

This Toilet-Flusher and people's laziness to flush, might have connection. I'm just to lazy to do a survey about it. So leave it just as a per-assumption of what is the correlation between Toilet Flusher and the Cleanliness of the Toilet. Well, the Evolution doesn't stop in this age, the Evolution of the Toilet Flusher will keep going on. Let's just hope that IT WILL BE IN A RIGHT PLACE.

Democracy versus Autocracy

Do you know what really is the best system for a government? Is it Autocracy? or is it Democracy? you want to know my answer?

The best government system in the whole wide world with a 100% success guarantee (with money return guarantee) is.... (drum roll please....) IDEAL SYSTEM...!!!!!
yeah, and you're going to spend 10-15 minutes of your life to read my arguments, well it depends also on how fast you're reading speed is. It might be 30 minutes to one hour if you read like me, hahaha....

Well now you might have arguments and own opinion about this issue. Some of you might say Autocracy is the best because it will make a government more effective and efficient. The government won't take too long to pass a law because it doesn't have to consult to certain bodies and go through several readings and plenary sessions.

On the other corner might just as well scream, Noooooooooo...
(oh, now it sounds more like musical theater or something...) okay, let's try to sing the next part live and I'm recording it... Les Miserables style...!!! You're Hugh Jackman... ACTION!!!
No no no noooooooo.... Democratic is the best way because it appreciates the voices of people and it shows checks and balances between powers in government system and also an open, free and fair elections....

Now let me ask you one thing...
In this whole wide world, what's the prove that it is the best government system?
It only works splendidly when it can function IDEALLY.....!!!!

The problem is, this is THE REAL WORLD...
When we have AUTOCRACY, we have a tyrant....!
When we have DEMOCRACY, we have excessive freedom and it makes everything hard because too much opinion to heard and in the end, we are indecisive. 

I think basically, Neither Autocracy or Democracy is a bad system. Both of them are good system but (with a very very large and enormous but) if it can be implemented IDEALLY. It's same like what I think about personality. There's no bad personality, just bad placement. There's no bad government system, just bad implementation.

Let's talk Democracy first, because on the Autocracy I want to make me the best Authoritarian Leader the world ever know. Democracy, BASICALLY a very splendid idea of how a government should run (not with leg, duh!). The government reach their position because they got support by majority of the people. So what the government take into action is reflecting on what people want, because he/she's the chosen one (Without having Voldemort cast a spell on you and left a thunder mark on your forehead to make you the chosen one)

BUT IN THE REALITY...
The government does chosen by the people, but the one who has the biggest distrust to the government is the people. So where's the people who put their trust to the government in the first place?
let's take my hometown as an example. There were an direct election for Mayor (if I'm not mistaken) and one candidate actually win with only 50% of the vote + around 10 vote or something. Literally 10 piece of vote paper (or around that) of all maybe 6 millions of another votes, so it's like zero point zero zero zero zero something percent. But then he's claiming that his contender is cheating and want to do re-electing once again. And guess what, the table is turned and the other couple won with more or less 10 piece of vote. Now the winner is loss and the loser in the first place now becomes the Mayor.
(well, don't completely trust my story... I just hear it from here and there. Since it's not a paper, I have no obligation to make this so f*cking scientifically)

Democratic system nowadays is more like a comedy. It's no longer, "I chose you to be my leader", but more like, "How much you're willing to pay me to vote you?"

Now let say this person is the Mayor with 50% + 10 votes supports. While to pass a law, you need 2/3 or around 66.6666666 % of the parliament (or house of representative member) to agree. So what's next???

The rest is either Negotiation, Lobbying or Bribing to pass a law...
Is this Democratic???
yes it is....
the question now is... "Is this ideal?"
"NO its f*cking NOT!!!!"

So how if the case is, the people doesn't mind with their authoritarian leader?? 
Is this semi-Democracy?
or is this semi-Autocracy?
Nah, let's skip that...

Now let's talk about Autocracy...
What not to like about this system?
I love it to death... hahaha.... (with note that I'm on the TOP)...
Why I think Autocracy is good... Because it can cut the hasle and the dazle of the Democratic long, painful and lobby-full process. Less cost, lest bribe and it has a possibility of less corruption.
But the problem once again, it has to be IDEAL...
what is IDEAL?

There's an Indonesian saying for portraying a hard thing to do, "Just like finding a needle in a haystack" but in terms of finding a good authoritarian is even harder, "It's like finding a hay in a needle-stack." Yeah, imagine how hard and painful is that.

So many autocratic leader in history has fall into a deep hatred among all it's citizen. Either their a bad seed to begin with or they're rotting as their time passing as the leader. Because not all people has a DIAMOND quality. If you dip a diamond to even the dirtiest mud for a very long time, you'll still see the diamond shines bright if you took the diamond out of the mud. Leaders nowadays no longer has that qualities. I think at most is only 18k Gold quality, they can hold only limited time dipped in the mud. The mud is called IN POWER. It really is INTOXICATING.

Now have you see my point?
Every government system in the world has a BUT (a really big, enormous, annoying, and smell when it farts but) when it comes into the real world for implementation. It is has to be IDEAL. Just like any Ideal thing when it comes to real world, it comes with negotiation and distortion from its original intention. 

So which one is better, or any other government system will you propose to be implemented? The problem is actually not always which one is better, because every system has it's own place and time and compatibility with certain country. The problem lies in front of us right now is actually the challenge when we have chose our system, is to fulfill the terms and conditions that the system needs in order to return to its IDEAL condition so we can create an IDEALISM in this REALISM world. 

Sounds hard?
No, it lies in the political will of the leaders.
If in Indonesia, If you want to be, let say, a Member of Parliament. Since the beginning of your campaign, you spent money to do campaign, you spent money here and there, you spent money to gain support. Everything is about money beforehand. So when you finally managed to reach the top, what comes first into your mind is, "How can I get my ROI (Return on Investment)?" After all the money you spent, you must be want all of them back, and of course with a (not so) little interest with it.

How can a government system is IDEAL when it begin with that kind of people???

I really do sometimes wonder, "Can I really jump into political world without have to spent any cent at all?"
Even though I have the DIAMOND quality (quote "huh?" "thought?" unquote), but with less money for campaigning I can be lost by an IRON quality people with rivers of gold behind them. 
Maybe if this school have a module let say PP something-something ZERO DOLLAR CAMPAIGN, I'll definitely be taking that class for the next semester. This is the thing that should be mastered by every politician, how to campaign without spending a dime.

Wow, another IDEALISM IDEA that I offered... hahaha...

I just realized, maybe I really do live in my own IDEALISM world and try to break into this REALISM world. Have you ever seen every ending of Sailor Moon Movie? It always pictured where Sailor Moon stand in front and risking her life (and yes, sometimes she's almost naked in the process, only covered by ribbon-like thingy) with supports from another sailors team representing planets in solar system. Either trying to unleash the Moon Power or creating a protection barrier. Maybe that what I'll do... 

I'll create a small group of people and call THE POWER OF IDEALISM... MAKE UP!!!! and with that power plus support of people who're willing to support me (but I'll make sure I won't be naked in the process, you can count on that!), I'll break the boundaries of REALISM world with my barrier of IDEALISM world.

Meh...
Now I'm in fully doubt of my own sanity..... hahahaha.........
