Kisah Hilangnya 10 KG Kurang dari 2 Bulan

Sekarang mood QQ lagi cihuy nih buat nulis, dan kayanya topik ini udah lama banget pengen ditulis, tapi emang keduluan ama si blog saingan itu... hmmm... you know who you are...

Tapi sekali lagi, bukan blog tandingan dan masing-masing orang beda-beda kemampuannya dalam usaha mereka menurunkan berat badan.

secara tinggi QQ sekitar 180cm, maka berdasarkan berat ideal (minus 100), maka harusnya berat QQ tuh sekitar 80kg saja. Sedangkan berdasarkan BMI calculator, berat badan ideal untuk QQ adalah sekitar 60 - 80kg saja. Jadi awaking moment-nya waktu itu adalah ketika berat badan QQ menyentuh 96kg. Drop dead gorgeous banget dah, ga tahu gimana kisah khilaf-nya sampe angka segitu bisa kesentuh dan kerasa sehat sih sehat... tapi ketika celana-celana dan kancing-kancing kemeja pada menjerit, yah... kerasa juga akhirnya.

QQ sih olahraga yaaa, baik itu ke gym atau berenang. Namun yang jadi masalah paling besarnya adalah membuat itu menjadi rutinitas. Karena nanti seminggu jor-jor-an terus off.... nanti beberapa bulan kemudian, jor-jor-an lagi seminggu, trus off lagi. Ga bisa lah stripping kaya sinetron-sinetron yang kekinian itu.

Setelah dianalisa lebih jauh lagi apa masalahnya, QQ tuh suka makan, jadi untuk mengendalikan makan dengan makan yang sehat tuh susah. Coba diet buah, gagal. Diet sayur, lewat. Diet ga makan nasi.... hahahaha.... bye!

Kemudian kenapa QQ selalu on-off gym, setelah dianalisa lebih jauh dengan memperhitungkan faktor-faktor yang terkait dan setelah dilakukan analisis cross-sectional, kayaya masalah QQ adalah latihan beban. Rutinitas di gym itu adalah, lari di treadmill 30 menit terus 3 - 4 jenis latihan beban buat either biceps ama chest atau shoulder ama triceps trus pendinginan dengan latihan perut sambil yoga ala-ala...

Karena seringnya QQ on-off, jadi tiap kali latihan tuh serasa kaya baru mulai lagi setelah sekian lama. Otot-otot yang udah lama ga di latih itu mulai kerasa sakit-sakit lagi. Dan akhirnya keesokan harinya yang terjadi adalah ketika ada perang mental dalam kepala QQ yang luasnya ga seberapa ini, justifikasi untuk QQ males latihan tuh lebih gede. Mulai dari yang kesiangan lah, ntar ada kuliah lah, dan pastinya... duuuh, tangan QQ sakit... besok aja lah.... Dan besoknya begitu lagi... begitu lagi dan akhirnya program QQ ga ada yang jalan.

Jadi akhirnya QQ mulai melakukan perenungan tingkat tinggi dan tanpa melibatkan dunia gaib, QQ menemukan program yang tepat. Fokus QQ adalah "Where is your strength?" Alias, dimana kekuatan utama kita? Kalo QQ merasa, kekuatan utama QQ ada di daya tahan dan kaki. Tapi bukan daya tahan di kasur yaaa... hahaha.... T . T

QQ tuh orangnya suka jalan kaki. Secara di Singapura juga emang tempatnya kondusif banget buat jalan kaki, jadi makin terlatihlah kaki ini. Moga aja ga sampe kaya kaki tukang becak, kalo kaya lobak, udah lah...

Nah jadi, sebenernya untuk menghilangkan kalori itu, yang dibutuhkan adalah aktifitas. Kita makan untuk menambah kalori dan dikeluarkan melalui aktifitas. Konon katanya, tidur juga pake kalori. Nah bedanya adalah berapa jumlah kalori yang dikeluarkan. Kalo tidur dibandingin ama belajar, tentu aja banyakan kalori yang dipakai buat belajar.

Jadi karena usaha QQ untuk gym dan latihan beban gagal melulu, ini saatnya meluruskan target. Prioritas QQ otot dulu ato turun berat badan dulu?

Maka, ketika itu QQ memutuskan untuk turun berat badan dulu. Jadi QQ sama sekali nggak menyentuh itu barbell, dumbell dan segala sesuatu yang memiliki beban. Yang QQ lakukan sederhana. Lari... Run for your life atau mungkin lebih tepatnya, lari dari kenyataan... hahaha...

Dan lagi, enaknya di Singapura itu, jogging track-nya itu ga hanya tersedia, tapi juga well-furnished dan empuk pula, karena jalurnya itu kayanya sih dibuat dari bahan karet atau sejenis itulah. Jadi kalo lari tuh enak. Selain itu, kita ga bakal merasa kesepian karena selalu rame.

Oh dan satu lagi, QQ tuh kadang lebih merasa termotivasi kalo ada saingannya. Jadi karena rame itu, kadang kita bisa aja milih siapa orang yang kira-kira bisa menjadi saingan of the day. Jadi lari aja sambil ngebuntutin tuh orang, dan rasanya tuh enak banget kalo QQ masih bisa lari sementara orang itu stop karena ngos-ngosan. Serasa seperti seorang pemenang. tapi emang salah juga sih kalo tiap pagi milihnya kakek-kakek buat saingan... hahaha...

Nah, itu program pagi... Lari sekitar 8-10 keliling jogging track itu. Yah, sekitar 30-40 menitan lah. Tiap pagi bangun jam 7 dan lari. Lari dari kenyataan...

Trus dimulailah aktifitas hari, dan waktu itu komitmen QQ selanjutnya adalah untuk selalu memilih tangga instead of eskalator. Kalo ada tangga, pilihnya tangga. Lumayan, bakar-bakar kalori dikiiit... 

Nah, aktifitas sehari itu belum selesai sampai ditutup dengan sesi 1 jam di gym. Sorenya atau malemnya, QQ masuk gym, tapi sama sekali ga pegang beban. jadi yang QQ lakukan adalah 30 menit di treadmill dan 30 menit di orbitrex plus masing-masing 5 menit pendinginan.

Nah, kalo kita bicara soal lari di treadmill, itu beneran lari, bukan jalan-jalan dan maju mundur cantik yaa.... programnya QQ sih agak random buat menjaga diri dari rasa bosen. tapi biasanya, 

  • 2 menit speed 6 buat pemanasan, 
  • 5 menit speed 8 mulai lari, 
  • 13 menit speed 10 buat lari lebih kenceng (kadang 10 menit speed 10 dan 3 menitnya speed 12) kemudian, 
  • 5 menit turun ke speed 9, 
  • 5 menit terakhir di speed 8. 

itu 30 menit dan untuk 5 menit pendinginannya di speed 6. tuh 35 menit tuh.

Nah, setelah itu, pindah ke orbitrex. ga tahu juga deh nama resminya alat ini, pokoknya yang kaki berayun-ayun itu lah, kaya seolah-olah jalan di awan. 30 menit di situ dengan resistance bervariasi dari 4 sampe 12. 5 menit terakhir pendinginan.

Udah selesai lari dan berayun-ayun, diakhiri dengan meditasi sampe rileks.

Hari pertama, itu betis udah kaya kebakar, dikasih bumbu BBQ, kayanya udah well-done itu.

Tapi lama-lama terbiasa. Enaknya itu adalah, pegelnya tuh di daerah kaki aja. Daerah atas aman. Jadi rasa malas itu mungkin sedikit lebih bisa dikendalikan. Rutinitas ini dilakukan secara harian kecuali mungkin sehari dalam seminggu dan QQ biasanya milih Jum'at. Tapi kalo pas day off itu QQ masih semangat lari, ya sesi paginya aja sorenya istirahat. Kalo pas ternyata hari itu hujan, maka pagi dan sore larinya di gym. Hanya saja kalo dua-duanya di gym, maka paginya 30 menit saja dan sorenya 1 jam. Yah, atau tergantung mood juga, kalo pas lagi menggila... pagi sore bisa sejam masing-masingnya. hahaha...

Yah, mungkin ini bukan program yang seimbang dan cocok untuk semua orang. Karena emang agak gila dan jor-jor-an sih... hahaha.. but it suits me well

Alhasil, dari 96, QQ terakhir dulu pas cabut dari singapura, berat badan sekitar 86 dan itu kurang dari 2 bulan. Tapi ada kalanya saat-saat dimana QQ merasa lelah dan bad mood. Namun yang QQ lakukan adalah, pokoknya bangun dulu, pasang headset trus jalan dulu ke jogging track. Kalo nyampe sana masih males, yaah lari pelan-pelan aja. Tapi biasanya sih sudah sampe sana, trus lihat orang-orang pada lari, biasanya langsung ikut panas juga dan ikutan lari juga akhirnya.

Musuh terbesar kita adalah rasa malas. 
Jadi intinya kalo kita memang ingin menjaga berat badan supaya ideal, intinya adalah bagaimana kita bisa menentukan tujuan kita dan kita bisa menentukan latihan apa yang tepat. Kalo suka nari, maka dance. Kalo suka sepakbola, maka play. intinya adalah bergerak dan beraktifitas, jadi kalori yang kita ambil itu tidak lantas kemudian bersemayam menjadi lemak di sana sini. 

Lebaran kemaren QQ lumayan menggila dan sejak balik ke Indonesia, menemukan jogging track yang letaknya dekat rumah dan nyaman untuk digunakan, terbukti bukan hal yang mudah. Akhirnya berat badan kembali naik. Setelah menetap di Jakarta, Lapangan Banteng kayanya bukan lapangan yang cukup nyaman untuk lari, sehingga akhirnya QQ memutuskan untuk menyisihkan sebagian (besar) penghasilan untuk gabung di gym. Pagi lari, sore lari. Kalo bisa siang lari mah, tak jabanin. Tapi berhubung sesuatu dan lain hal, kayanya pagi dan malem aja deh. Udah kaya gabungan nama dua restoran, Pagi Sore dan Siang Malam... hahahaha.... jadi pengen makan Padang....

One last tips is that, enjoy it!! it might looks like that you are forced to do it in the beginning and everything is about redeeming yourself for eating to much (that's me), but when it became part of your daily life, it will become easier....
at least, that's what I keep telling myself every morning when I woke up at 5am just to go to Grand Indonesia to run for 30 minutes and arrived at my office before 8am. Thigh is burning like crazy but I hope I can reach 80kg soon enough. After I reach 80, I will start the weight training.

And yeah, my Instagram will soon full of half naked photos....
hmmm.... kayanya QQ mulai mikir kayanya badan QQ ga pernah bisa bagus karena emang niatnya ga bagus... hahahaha...

We Simply Don't Have the Luxury

At some point in my life a fine-looking lady asked me, "Hey, you're about to graduate soon, what will you miss the most about Singapore?"

Well, what a deep and profound question yet I answered it with a super duper shallow answer, I responded to her, "Well, I think I'm going to miss the monthly stipend"

Well, on the surface, yes... that's the number one thing I will definitely missed. but then again when the time actually come to part with that little-amazing-red-dot and landed in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta, it struck me, lightning-hard and damn... what I actually missed from Singapore is "the convenience of living in Singapore". 

If you ever tried the mass rapid transport in Jakarta called TransJakarta, you will know why.

Then I think deeper, why could this happened and the answer was, "We simply don't have the luxury to it"
Having a convenience life in Jakarta is a luxury.

In Singapore, if you're crossing the street, cars, buses, motorbike, truck everything that moved on the street will stop for you and give way to you. You can try that in Jakarta and I can assure you that you will end up in either hospital or six-feet-under.

And I think again, there's no reason to rush in Singapore. There's no harm in giving way to the pedestrians. If you lost a moment in the street, you can easily catch up because the road in front if you is almost clear of cars. While in Jakarta, if you stop in order to give way here's what will happen:
1. Cars behind you will honking like crazy
2. Cars behind you probably will hit your behind because it was not anticipated
3. Cars behind you will outride you
4. Once you stop, you will definitely stuck in traffic, so basically your life is always on the rush.

We simply don't have the luxury of having a convenience driving. If you're going slow, everyone will outride you. So everyone is fighting the opportunity to be on the road and yet I think that's the main cause of traffic. If only people can drive with their brain instead of their hands, they can make things easier by giving way to others. Instead, people are always fighting over the road and no one is willing to stop for a moment and drive with ease.

In Singapore, it's rarely to feel 'stuffed' in the bus or train. You can try the public transport in Jakarta, okay.. I will skip the "angkot" part because that's on another world. Let's talk about "TransJakarta" or famous with "Busway". You will almost all the time found this happened:
1. People are pushing other people in order to get in the bus
2. You will be standing and stuffed inside because the bus is freaking-full
3. Smells awful
3. You feel healthier when you get down because you just enjoyed a sauna in a bus

Well, again... we simply don't have the luxury of having a convenience transport. I asked again why? well, in Singapore you stop at the designated bus-top or train station, therefore there's no bus stop at their own discretion and creating traffic. secondly, if you see a bus getting too crowded you can just not riding it and wait for the next one to come because the arrival time is (almost) definite and you can see it in the app. As here in Jakarta, One bus come and you can't tell when another bus will passing by and waiting in a crowded and hot busway-station is not comfortable. So once a bus come, you will surely have to fight you opportunity in getting one ignoring the fact if the bus is already full. The bus can show up once in every 5 minutes if you're lucky yet I once waited for freaking 30 minutes and no bus showed. 

In Singapore, It's so convenience to walk at 2am in the early-morning from orchard to Dunearn Road. If you don't feel like taking a cab because it's a bit expensive and decided to live a healthier life by walking more often, you can enjoy the stillness of Singapore at 2am and you feel safe. You can try walking at the same time in Jakarta, I will have to warn you... please hold on tight to your wallet and on the side of the road you might see some unpleasant view. 

Well again, we simply don't have the luxury of having a convenience walking in the middle of the night. Why? I actually enjoy driving in my bike as late as possible because at that time, I can enjoy Jakarta as if I'm in Singapore with a road clear-of-cars and I can drive fast. But I can tell you this, as long as I live in Jakarta, (knock on wood) I never got mobbed on the street, though... my motorbike once got stolen in my boarding-house (alias kost). so from my perspective, Jakarta street is actually safe. but the fact that the image and the news are making it worse that it is.

In Singapore, there are some trash but you will rarely see it outside of the trash-bin. It's 98% clean from trash. When you walk in here, you will see the trash is everywhere and the smell is freaking horrible. even while driving I often see people are throwing cigarette-butts from their car or tissue and even a plastic bottle. 

as I've said over and over, we simply don't have the luxury of having a clean life. But then again I think about it. It's true that Singapore have the law of littering with fine up to SGD 1,000. But do you know that in my hometown there's also similar law that prohibit littering from cars with fine up to IDR 5 million (about SGD 500). But I can assure you the difference is at the rule of law. I can talk about this littering issue at a great length, but your span of attention in reading this is almost running out (i know, it's getting too long isn't it?).

Well as a conclusion to this writing, Why don't we have that luxury of living a convenience life here??
Okay, Indonesia is having 250 million people compare to a small Singapore is might be not apple to apple comparison. We might have less infrastructure built, but we still have same resource, that is HUMAN RESOURCE. The convenience of living is not only about the infrastructure, but also about the MINDSET of the people.

You can have traffic in front of you but that must not stop you from become a considerate-driver. Always look around you and stop when you have to in order to prevent more traffic ahead. If you ever notice in several main intersection in Jakarta there's usually a big yellow box and it means that there should be no car inside. So stop even though the traffic-light shows green sign if the cars in front of you can no longer move forward. 

MENTAL TRANSFORMATION is once came out in the campaign season last presidential election and this could be an answer but hard to implement. I often see when I'm visiting beaches, there are teachers, parents, people that should set the example for the future generations, littering. Damn! what will happened when those people set the wrong example and what future generations are we creating?

We really are don't have that luxury of living in convenience, but if you're changing your mindset and start act towards it, we might see some changes towards it.
One act can't make things change, but it surely can start.
So let's start from ourselves and start changing!!!
